This advanced laser course focuses on the assessment and treatment of vascular conditions, emphasizing clinical decision-making and appropriate technology selection. Students will gain a thorough understanding of vascular anatomy, hemoglobin absorption peaks, and tissue interaction using 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths with Cutera Excel V+, alongside broadband light treatments using Sciton BBL.
The curriculum addresses diffuse redness, telangiectasia, facial vessels, cherry angiomas, and mixed vascular presentations. A key focus of this course is learning when to use a laser versus when to use BBL, based on vessel depth, diameter, distribution, skin type, and inflammatory response.
Students will learn how pulse duration, fluence, spot size, cooling, and treatment spacing affect vascular outcomes and safety. Emphasis is placed on endpoint recognition, managing inflammation, avoiding overtreatment, and minimizing post-treatment complications across all Fitzpatrick skin types.
